Halifax & SouthWestern Railway Museum - located in Lunenburg, Duane Porter operates an incredible community museum for the train enthusiast and anyone interested in how people lived along the South Shore during the age of the train (approx 1890 up to 1990s). Along with an amazing, geographically-correct model train setup, the museum immerses you in what it would have felt like to ride the train.

New Germany Virtual Museum - a wealth of information about the New Germany area.

Old Nova Scotia photos - Paul Harmon of Petite Riviere has an *amazing* collection of historic Nova Scotia photos. Lots from Lunenburg County as well as from all over the province. Gotta be a Facebook Friend to see the collection, so send him a request.

South Shore Public Library - we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful resource in our community. Very helpful staff. Some of their reference books follow.

• Going Against the Grain - the Rise of Bridgewater 1812 - 1899 - by Patrick R. Hirtle
• Historic LaHave River Valley - by Sheila Chamber, Joan Dawson and Edith Wolter, a picture/short story book written in 2004 covering the entire LaHave River Valley
• In Praise of Oxen - by Terry James and Frances Anderson, stunning photos and copy about the oxen and (largely) men that work with them
• Nova Scotia’s Historic Rivers - The Waterways that Shaped the Province - by Joan Davis
• Reflections 2000 - a community effort to document the history of West Northfield and Area compiled in 2000. Lots of good information and photos.

Ultimate Way to Experience the LaHave between New Germany and Bridgewater

The final resource may well be the best. Canoe from New Germany to Bridgewater along the LaHave. The following is one of three maps documenting the route. The complete package with descriptions is part of Paddle Lunenburg/Queens.
